Hi! I'm Shelli! I'm now the proud owner of Advance in IT Ltd. I've been working since I was 15, always taking pride in my work.
My two passions are people and technology. In all of my jobs since I finished my Social Science degree in 1999, I have always given 110%. I started my career in HR and swiftly moved on to recruitment, working for Norman Broadbent on the Microsoft Account, with regular trips to their Head Office in Reading and many meetings with HR on securing the candidates they wanted.
I've always been an organiser, so a PA role at T-mobile after that came naturally to me, and was a role I thrived in. I soon took on more responsibility to become a Project Co-ordinator, and was soon travelling across the country training managers on a meeting efficiency platform that I had designed myself, which was web-based.
I was headhunted by Adecco UK after that to work as a Business Solutions Co-ordinator, to update and upgrade their policies and procedures. I loved this job. It gave me real space to make a difference. The highlight was upgrading the Expenses to an electronic version. What a time saver and how efficient!
I've always been tech savvy and so bring this to Advance in IT, ensuring we are using all the latest tools to make us as efficient as possible so we can spend our time wisely, thus helping our customers in the best way possible.
Starting my headhunting career in 2006 with Eurosearch, I quickly found it fascinating. Even then, I would focus on relationships over KPIs, and I'm glad I did as 14 years later, we have a strong recruitment brand that I am particularly proud of. My relationship-building skills and attention to detail (all that new IT knowledge) helped me thrive.
I decided to start my own business for the reasons I mentioned above. I wanted to focus on people and not be told to focus on numbers - CVs out, interviews booked, placements. I focus on results for sure but working as a team with my customers to get there together as a team.
As a company, we focus on excellence and quality, always striving to be better. We use the latest technologies so we can automate as much of the job as possible. This means we can spend more time talking to and getting to know our customers. We love our customers, and this shows in how we work. While we are results-driven, we are driven by people, not numbers.
